Solar powered water generators have powerful environmental implications.

Water is a resource that so many of us take for granted, as most of us have never lived in a place where it is scarce. The alarming reality is that in many places in the world, drinkable water is a luxury that many are forced to live without. There are people who have to choose between dying of thirst or drinking water that is full of bacteria and disease, while most of us think about it in terms of which brand of bottled water to buy.

Solar powered water generators actually extract water from the air, which contains billions of gallons on any given day. The vapor is pulled from the air and the innovative Aldelano Solar WaterMaker harnesses water molecules, creating fresh, clean drinking water without a power grid or water system – up to 50 gallons per day.

Solar powered water generators could change the world by providing clean water to dry and destitute populations. It can also provide a clean, off-grid water solution for anyone, anywhere, even if just for the purpose of avoiding going through the local water system.

This system, which provides not only water, but water that is clean for drinking, could positively impact the environment if it were embraced. Choosing to drink water that was pulled from the air could resolve a large waste problem that we have because of the overwhelming popularity of water bottles.

Less Waste Of Resources

Water bottles are extremely wasteful. Many people operate under the assumption that, because they’re recyclable, they’re not bad for the environment. The truth is, according to The Water Project nonprofit organization, it takes (approximately) three times as much water for packaging than is actually being packaged. Meaning, if a case of bottled water contains 12 liters of water, an estimated 36 liters of water was used for packaging. This doesn’t even account for the oil used (about 17 million barrels annually, which is enough to fuel 1.3 million cars) or the energy used, which would be enough to power 190,000 homes, as published by the Pacific Institute.

Less Pollution and Waste

Even with recycling, options are limited (by types of bottle and availability of recycling services) and many won’t recycle unless it’s made to be very convenient. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, only 1 out of 5 bottles are sent to the recycle bin, and U.S. landfills are overflowing with 2 million tons of discarded water bottles. Disposable water bottles take over 1,000 years to biodegrade; if incinerated, they release toxic fumes into the environment.

A Green, Clean Alternative

Solar powered water generators could greatly reduce or even eliminate the extreme level of waste that our culture’s addiction to water in a bottle has caused. If people gain knowledge of a clean alternative that is significantly better for the environment, maybe they will embrace it.

Most drink water from disposable bottles because it’s convenient. They equate the recyclable bottle with being environmentally friendly, and they assume it’s the cleanest way to drink water.  The convenience is undeniable, but the misconception of being eco-friendly and the only clean drinking water is what needs to be dispelled. Culture has shifted over the last decade and most people are more open to living green than ever before.

Aldelano’s Solar WaterMaker could take over the U.S. and branch out to other countries. It could help solve the waste problem we have here, and gain traction in other places to eventually provide clean drinking water for those who are in desperate need of it. You could be a part of that change. Choosing a solar powered water generator will not only benefit you, but you’ll also be practicing strong environmental responsibility.
