A solar cooler is a large investment, so it’s natural to have hesitations.
If you have seen or heard about the Aldelano Solar Coldbox, you probably know it’s a great idea, but are trying to talk yourself out of it (as most do before making large purchases). Sure, it is a solar powered magic box that can be a lifeline in the event of an emergency, providing essentials that would be the first to go in a power loss, but is it really something you need? Aren’t there some disadvantages?
The Cost
The most common concern is the initial investment of purchasing the solar cooler. Many people see it as an expense that they just can’t afford right now, but the truth of the matter is, it’s an investment and it could very well be one that you can’t afford not to make. With the rising costs of utilities, think of the way that solar refrigeration would cut your living costs. Then add to that the savings on water from having a built-in solar powered water generator (produces water from air) and you’ve cut out a large chunk of your electric bill and water!
The upfront cost might be scary to you, but remembering that it will soon pay for itself in all of the money you save on utilities will quickly make it worthwhile.
Where To Put It
The idea of the Aldelano solar cooler is amazing, but when it comes to the logistics, like finding a place to put it, some people get overwhelmed. The idea of finding and setting aside space for a ColdBox the size of a mini-warehouse is something that doesn’t always seem feasible.
This is a serious obstacle if you’re someone with limited yard space and obviously not an option if you live in an apartment, but if you’re a homeowner or restaurant owner and just not sure about dedicating that much space to your solar cooler, you should remember that it could be a literal lifesaver. It may be big but it can allow you to be prepared for any type of crisis or live off the grid.
More good news: If the 40 foot Solar ColdBox is too large for you, we have a 20 foot solar cooler coming soon! Half the size with the same solar powered lifelines!
What about at night or on cloudy days?
When you purchase a solar cooler, you will receive instructions on setting up the panels (location and which direction they should face) in a way that will receive and store optimal solar power. The sun is an incredibly powerful entity, so even when you think it’s too cloudy, energy is still being pulled.
The Aldelano Solar Coldbox also stores solar power in an alternate source (battery) to be accessible at night. The design is meticulously planned to provide solar refrigeration for you regardless of the weather or time of day!
Is the water good enough to drink?
Solar powered water generators are undeniably a powerful tool. They cut the water bill and provide water in an economically responsible way, eliminating waste. Many might still have reservations about how clean the water is to drink, especially since we live in a culture where bottled water is assumed to be the ultimate drinking water. When thinking of water from air, the assumption is that it wouldn’t be comparable – which is completely false. The modern technology of our solar powered water generators provides astoundingly fresh water.
Aldelano’s Solar WaterMaker produces water from air in the atmosphere by pulling in vapor and converting it into water molecules. That water then goes through a 6-stage filtration system to purify it, and is re-mineralized to add calcium and magnesium. Choosing our solar cooler and Solar WaterMaker will not compromise the quality of your drinking water. If anything, it will ensure you’re drinking cleaner water than you were before.
It’s natural to have concerns when making an investment. Just know that Aldelano thought about all of these concerns when creating a product that would truly be worthwhile, providing solar refrigeration and water at the highest standard. Your investment will pay for itself and benefit you (and others) for years to come.
